    Much To Do!

Traveling from southern U.S. and Mexico, the eastern bluebirds returned to Eighty Acres on April 1st. They are on a mission. Mating. Building their nests. Laying 4-6 eggs. Feeding the young with the baby bluebirds first flight in 21 days. And then....they do it all again a second time each summer. The male bluebird pictured above is taking a well deserved break in the bird bath. Do it quickly. There is much to do! #Menomonie #travelwisconsin #dunncounty #Bluebirds #Di

    "It's the Truth"

Do you remember the 1946 Disney song Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah? The song reminds us to celebrate each day because there is "plenty of sunshine heading our way" and "mr bluebird on my shoulder." The Bluebirds are back to Eighty Acres and yes...."it's the truth. It's actual. It's satisfactual." #NaturePhotography #Wisconsin #EightyAcresPhotography #Midwest #Discoverwisconsin #Birds #DunnCounty #EarthMother #Spring #Bluebirds

    Backyard Home Builder

The Earth Mother sends her eastern bluebirds back to Eighty Acres around April first. They soon begin constructing their nests and will lay four to five eggs which will hatch in two weeks. Pictured above is a female eastern bluebird who is protecting her nest and watching for intruders like house sparrows and starlings. Thanks to birdhouse boxes the bluebirds are becoming much more common on Eighty Acres. Why not put a birdhouse box up, and you too can have a home builde

    Bluebirds Return To Eighty Acres

Each year around April 1st the Earth Mother sends her Eastern Bluebirds back to Eighty Acres where ten Bluebird box nests await their arrival. Immediately the bird battles begin. Bluebirds, Wrens, Sparrows and Swallows all vie for the same property! There are no guarantees who will win the wars, but enough Bluebirds succeed each year to make their home on Eighty Acres. An ample food supply awaits the Bluebirds on Eighty Acres. Elderberries and a wide variety of insects
