Tottering Legs

The young fawn's tottering legs couldn't keep pace with her mother's long strides and she stumbled and lay down in front of me on an Eighty Acres trail. Our eyes met, and I could see her exhaustion. I knelt and quickly clicked my camera. To my surprise the fawn stood on her wobbly legs, walked towards me, and touched her nose to my chest! She then collapsed in front of me. I slowly backed away knowing that the fawn would soon be reunited with her mother. and in a few days, on stronger legs, she will be bounding through the woods. A smile came to my face and I silently thanked the Earth Mother for her special gift and memory today.
