Jack-In-The-Pulpit Discovered

Bruce Siebold

The Earth Mother revealed one more of her secrets to me this past week. Pictured above are the berries of the Jack-In-The-Pulpit flower that i discovered under a patch of thick blackberry vines. This unusual flowers name comes from it's hood shaped leaves that protects the club-shaped stem. With a little imagination it looks like a preacher standing in an old fashioned pulpit. In the Fall, the berries turn bright green and as they ripen, become deep red. The birds soon discovered these berries and in just a short time, they were gone. Beautiful discovery! Thank you Earth Mother for sharing one more of your gifts with me.
