The Battle
Each evening the battle between light and dark begins and each time the sun loses. But the sun is very proud and somewhat vain and often times will not depart until it prepares the most spectacular exit. Like the final scene from a play, the day's curtain begins to fall, the music crescendos and the sun hurls fiery colors across the sky. Better Days Ahead
Alberta Canada, our northern neighbor, is a beautiful place with majestic mountains, prairies, and many lakes. But now it is an inferno. Fires in Alberta continue to burn out of control. Nearly a million acres are now charred, with the largest fire in the Chuckegg Creek region. The toxic smoke billows, reaches to the skies, drifts to the east, and creates spectacular sunsets over Eighty Acres. I'm sending all the good people in Alberta my prayers and hoping for better days

The Journey
A single drop of water from melting snow began its life journey under a sunset on Eighty Acres. It soon reached the Red Cedar River...then the Chippewa River... and finally the Mississippi. At times the journey was calm and still in shallow waters. Other times the journey was dark, with deep water, raging rapids, fatigue and uncertainty. Each day the droplet moved forward towards its destiny, until the sky and water finally met and there was only peace. #Menomonie #travelwi

THE BATTLE
Each dawn and dusk the battle between day and night takes place. From east to west, each side struggles for control. Each side knowing it will win. Each side knowing it will lose. At the end of this day, darkness stretches its long shadows and calls for the moon and stars to make their entrance. But before the sun slips over the horizon, it paints the sky in brilliant red, yellow and orange colors and shouts in its loudest voice. Look at me! I will be back! #TravelWI #sun

HOPE FOR TOMORROW
A brutal February blizzard with twelve inches of snow and wind gusts up to 40mph pounded Eighty Acres. Drifts made the roads impassable and swirling white-out conditions forced the birds, animals and people to simply hunker down and wait for the fury of the storm to subside. Aching shoulders from shoveling and worries about the pole barn roof collapsing were all forgotten as the Earth Mother sent a beautiful evening sunset and gave me hope for tomorrow. #travelwisconsin #Sea

Patience
Leafless trees, frozen ground and darkness covers Eighty Acres in January. No sunshine for several days. A grayness shrouds my soul. Eating For Two
Framed by the setting sun, a lone silhouetted adult doe slowly moves to its feeding area. Tonight it will browse on plant tips, grasses, acorns and will check out the nearby corn and bean fields. Before dawn it will travel back to its bedding area where it will chew its cud and digest the food further. The doe is most likely pregnant and will deliver its fawn in about six weeks. The Final Curtain
