Blood Moon over Eighty Acres

A blood moon is often associated with doomsday prophecies, but on October 8, 2014, I approached the event with positive anticipation and a great deal of preparation. Eighty Acres provided me a front row seat to this rare event where the earth's shadow slowly dims the moon resulting in a global sunset on the moon. The evening arrived and my camera equipment was checked and rechecked for the 10:00 p.m. showtime. For an hour and 12 minutes my camera shutter clicked, and I hoped there would be at least one good shot. As the eclipse faded without the world ending, I felt lucky to have captured this wonderful blood moon sitting over Eighty Acres.
