In 1990, my wife Terry and I purchased eighty acres in Dunn County, Wisconsin and moved with our two children, Aaron and Allison, into our new home.
Since that time, as a self-taught photographer, I have take thousands of photos on this land. My photo collection includes sunsets, landscapes, wildlife, the four seasons, flowers and a host of other subjects. Each photo has nature as its theme, and all are taken on Eighty Acres.
Throughout the years I have worked hard to train my eyes to see the nuances that the Earth Mother offers me each day; from her curves, patterns and radiance, to her surprises, sorrows, renewals and life's lessons. But the Earth Mother is often shy and reveals her stories only after you have proven your patience, perseverance and respect.
So each day I pack my camera bag with hope. Hope that she will reveal her gifts to me. Hope that I will hear her song, feel her moods and understand why there is a need to protect her for future generations. Hope that my efforts will capture a mere sliver of the history of Eighty Acres.
I have published three nature photography books. My first book, Thank You Sun, is a quarter-century collection of my favorite sunsets. The second book, Seasons on Eighty Acres, is a photographic journey through the Earth Mother's four seasons. My third book, Stories on Eighty Acres, presents a compendium of photographs that not only capture the beauty of the land, but also serve as metaphors and lessons for our own life's journeys.
Thank you for your interest in my photography. I hope you enjoy each day and each season of your personal journey.
